Summary

The application relates to a computer program for consolidating data relating to telephone calls gathered from multiple sources and for analysing this data to identify networks of people and the links between them. It finds particular application in the field of digital forensics, which involves the recovery and examination of material found in digital devices such as computers and mobile phones in support of criminal investigations. The Hearing Officer found that the contribution made by the invention, namely a better tool for cleaning telecommunication data and identifying networks of individuals, was not technical and that the invention was excluded as a computer program. The application was refused.
