The proprietor of GB 2477486, Cronapress Limited requested reviews of opinion 08/12 (“the first opinion”) and opinion 16/12 (“the second opinion”). The first opinion, which was requested by Cronapress, concluded that the patent was not infringed by a product known as Strike-Point which was manufactured and sold by Industrial Control Systems Ltd. The second opinion, which was requested by Industrial Control Systems Limited, concluded that the invention in the patent was obvious. On review the hearing officer decided that the examiner had reached a wrong conclusion in the second opinion and therefore the opinion was set aside. The first opinion was however not set aside.
