2. — (1) The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954 shall apply to Article 1 and the following provisions of this Order as it applies to a Measure of the Northern Ireland Assembly. (2) In this Order “ Department ” includes the Head of a Department.

4. — Para.(1) rep. by 1999 NI 1 (2) F2 ... [  F2 The Department of Finance and Personnel ] shall be responsible for formulating and sponsoring policies for the improvement of community relations in Northern Ireland. (3) Without prejudice to the generality of paragraph (2), the powers of [ F2 the Department of Finance of Personnel ] under that paragraph include —

(a)

giving financial or other assistance to any persons or organisations appearing to [ F2 the Department of Finance and Personnel ] to be concerned with community relations; and

(b)

giving financial assistance towards the conduct of research into community relations.

Para.(4) rep. by SR 1990/77 (5) In paragraphs (2) and (3) any reference to community relations shall be construed as including a reference to any matter connected with or affecting those relations.
