FRIENDLY SOCIETIES INDUSTRIAL AND PROVIDENT SOCIETIES

Present,
The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council
Her Majesty, in pursuance of the power conferred upon Her by section 22(1) of the Friendly and Industrial and Provident Societies Act 1968, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:-
1. The Friendly and Industrial and Provident Societies Act 1968 shall extend to the Bailiwick of Jersey and to the Bailiwick of Guernsey, subject to the following modifications:-
(a)in section 6(8) the reference to the High Court shall be construed as a reference-
(i)in Jersey, to the inferior number of the Royal Court of Jersey;
(ii)in Guernsey, Her, and Jethou, to the Royal Court of Guernsey sitting as an Ordinary Court;
(iii)in Alderney, to the Court of Alderney;
(iv)in Sark, to the Court of the Seneschal of Sark;
(b)for section 8(2)(b) there shall be substituted the following paragraph:-
"(b)he is-
(i)an officer or servant (otherwise than as auditor) of a company which is a subsidiary of that society; or
(ii)a person who is a partner of or in the employment of a person who is an officer or servant (otherwise than an auditor) of such a company.";
(c)in section 14(1) the reference to Great Britain shall be construed as including any of the Channel Islands.
2. This Order may be cited as the Friendly and Industrial and Provident Societies (Channel Islands) Order 1968 and shall come into operation on 1st January 1969.
