The Redundant Mineworkers (Payments Scheme) (Amendment) Order 1971

The Secretary of State, in exercise of his powers under section 3 of the Coal Industry Act 1967 as amended by section 2(3) of the Coal Industry Act 1971 and of all other powers in that behalf enabling him, hereby orders as follows:-

1.-(1) This Order may be cited as the Redundant Mineworkers (Payments Scheme) (Amendment) Order 1971 and shall come into operation on 1st April 1971.

(2) The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply for the interpretation of this Order as it applies for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.

2. The Redundant Mineworkers (Payments Scheme) Order 1968(1) is amended-

(a)by substituting in article 2 thereof and in paragraph (b) of Article 3 of the Schedule thereto the date "26th March 1972" for the date "28th March 1971"; and

(b)by substituting in paragraph (1)(b) of Article 8 of the Schedule thereto the date "29th March 1975" for the date "30th March 1974".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order enables a mineworker aged 55 and over, who becomes redundant between 27th March 1971 and 26th March 1972, and fulfils certain other conditions, to benefit under the scheme set out in the Schedule to the Redundant Mineworkers (Payments Scheme) Order 1968 up to a maximum period of 156 weeks.
