The Secretary of State in exercise of his powers under section 7(2) of the Hovercraft Act 1968, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:-
1. Section 4(3) of the Hovercraft Act 1968 shall come into operation on 12th July 1972.
2. This Order may be cited as the Hovercraft Act 1968 (Commencement) Order 1972.

This Order brings into operation section 4(3) of the Hovercraft Act 1968, which provides that a hovercraft shall not be treated as a ship, aircraft or motor vehicle for the purposes of any enactment passed before that Act, or of any instrument having effect by virtue of any such enactment. Section 4(3) comes into operation on the same day as the Hovercraft (Application of Enactments) Order 1972 (S.I. 1972/971).
