The Minister for the Civil Service, in exercise of the powers conferred on her by section 13(2) and (5) of the Pensions (Increase) Act 1971(1) and of all other powers enabling her in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:-
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Pensions Increase (Federated Superannuation System for Universities) (Amendment) Regulations 1980, and shall come into operation on 5th January 1981.
2. In these Regulations, "the principal Regulations" means
3. The principal Regulations shall be further amended-
(a)in Regulation 2(1), by adding, at the end of the definition of "relevant employment", the following paragraph:-
"(f)employment by the Imperial College of Tropical Agriculture before 1st August 1960;";
(b)in Schedule 2, by inserting after the entry relating to the Natural Environment Research Council the words "Nature Conservancy Council," after the entry relating to the Royal Agricultural College the words "Royal College of Surgeons," and after the entry relating to Studley College the words "University College at Buckingham."

These Regulations further amend the Pensions Increase (Federated Superannuation System for Universities) Regulations 1972 ("the principal Regulations"), which provide for the payment of allowances corresponding to pension increases under the Pensions (Increase) Act 1971 to persons who have been subject to the Superannuation System for Universities (F.S.S.U.) while in relevant employment and who have retired from the civil service. The amendments add to the definition of relevant employment for the purposes of the principal Regulations employment by the Imperial College of Tropical Agriculture before 1st August 1960, and employment by the Nature Conservancy Council, Royal College of Surgeons and University College at Buckingham.
