30th July 1982
Coming into Operation

In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by sections 4(4) and 32(1) of the Immigration Act 1971(1), I hereby make the following Order:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Immigration (Hotel Records) (Amendment) Order 1982 and shall come into operation on 1st January 1983.
2. In Article 2(1) of the Immigration (Hotel Records) Order 1972, in the definition of "alien" for the words "British Nationality Act 1948" there shall be substituted the words "British Nationality Act 1981".
W. S. I. Whitelaw

Home Office
22nd July 1982
Article 2(1) of the Immigration (Hotel Records) Order 1972 defines "alien" for the purposes of the Order as having the same meaning as in the British Nationality Act 1948 (c.56). The definition of "alien" in section 32(1) of that Act is repealed by the British Nationality Act 1981 which comes into force on 1st January 1983 (S.I. 1982/933). This Order amends the definition of "alien" in Article 2(1) so as to give it the same meaning there as it has in the Act of 1981 (which defines it in section 50(1)).
section 4(4) is amended by the British Nationality Act 1981 (c.61), section 39(6) and Schedule 4, paragraph 2.
