The Secretary of State for Social Services, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 7(2) of the Forfeiture Act 1982, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following order:-
1. This order may be cited as the Forfeiture Act 1982 Commencement Order 1982.
2. The appointed day for the purposes of section 4 of the Forfeiture Act 1982 (Social Security Commissioners to decide whether forfeiture rule applies in relation to right to benefits and advantages under certain legislation relating to social security and pensions) is 31st December 1982.

This Order brings into operation with effect from 31st December 1982 the provisions of section 4 of the Forfeiture Act 1982 (Social Security Commissioners to decide whether the forfeiture rule -� see section 1(1) of that Act -� applies in relation to the right to benefits and advantages under certain legislation relating to social security and pensions).
Sections 6 and 7 of the Act came into operation on the passing of the Act (13th July 1982) and the remaining provisions of the Act on the expiry of three months beginning with that date.
