In exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 35 of the Police Act 1964, as extended by section 13 of the Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1967 and sections 12 and 15 of the Superannuation Act 1972, and after consulting the Police Negotiating Board for the United Kingdom in accordance with section 2(3) of the Police Negotiating Board Act 1980, I hereby make the following Regulations:-
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Police Cadets (Pensions) (Amendment) Regulations 1983.
2. These Regulations shall come into operation on 15th August 1983 and shall have effect as from 1st January 1982.
3. In Regulation 4 of the Police Cadets (Pensions) Regulations 1973(1) (effect of Regulations) there shall be omitted paragraph (1) and the references thereto in paragraphs (2) and (3).

These Regulations amend the Police Cadets (Pensions) Regulations 1973 with effect from 1st January 1982 (retrospection is authorised by sections 12 and 15 of the Superannuation Act 1972). Under Regulation 4(1) of the 1973 Regulations the Regulations are to have effect only in the case of a cadet who has attained the age of 18 years. This limitation is now removed.
