The A52 Nottingham-West of Grantham Trunk Road (Bottesford Bypass) Detrunking Order 1987

Coming into force

26th June 1987

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980(1), and now vested in him(2), and of all other enabling powers:

1. On the operative date:-

(1) Each of the lengths of trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order and shown on the deposited plan by broad striped hatching and the reference letter stated opposite the description in that Schedule shall cease to be a trunk road;

(2) the length of trunk road in respect of which the reference letter C is stated shall become classified as a classified road.

2. In this Order-

(1) all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;

(2) (i) "classified road"

as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is not a principal road for the purposes of enactments or instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads but is a classified road for the purpose of every enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State and which does not specifically refer to their classification as principal roads;

(ii)"the deposited plan"

means the plan folio numbered HA10/EM23 marked "The A52 Nottingham-West of Grantham Trunk Road (Bottesford Bypass) Detrunking Order 1986" signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY;

(iii)"the new trunk road"

means the highway mentioned in article 1 of the A52 Nottingham-West of Grantham Trunk Road (Bottesford Bypass) Order 1987;

(iv)"the Trunk Road"

means A52 Nottingham-West of Grantham Trunk Road; and

(v)"the operative date"

means the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the County Councils of Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire that the new trunk road is open for through traffic.

3. This Order shall come into force on 26th June 1987 and may be cited as the A52 Nottingham-West of Grantham Trunk Road (Bottesford Bypass) Detrunking Order 1987.

THE SCHEDULELengths of the Trunk Road ceasing to be a trunk road

The lengths of the Trunk Road ceasing to be a trunk road are those lengths which are situated between the following points:-

Reference Letter

1. A point near Orston Grange approximately 535 metres south-west of the entrance to Highfield Farm, and the point where the boundary dividing the Countries of Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire crosses the Trunk Road.

2. The point where the boundary dividing the Counties of Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire crosses the Trunk Road and the south-west of the junction of the Trunk Road with Bowbridge Lane, Bottesford.

B

3. The south-west of the junction of the Trunk Road with Bowbridge Lane and a point approximately 658 metres west of Church Lane, Muston.
