The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 130 of the Supreme Court Act 1981(1), and with the concurrence of the Lord Chief Justice, the Master of the Rolls, the President of the Family Division, the Vice-Chancellor and the Treasury, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Non-Contentious Probate Fees (Amendment) Order 1987 and shall come into force on 1st August 1987.
2. For paragraph 1(a) of the Schedule to the Non-Contentious Probate Fees Order 1981(2) there shall be substituted the following sub-paragraph-
"(a)if the assessed value
does not exceed £10,000 ... ... ... ...No fee
exceeds £10,000 but does not exceed £25,000 ... ... ... ...40.00
exceeds £25,000 but does not exceed £40,000 ... ... ... ...80.00
exceeds £40,000 but does not exceed £70,000 ... ... ... ...150.00
exceeds £70,000 but does not exceed £100,000 ... ... ... ...2.50 per £1,000
or part thereof".
3. The Non-Contentious Probate Fees (Amendment) Order 1983(3) is hereby revoked.

This Order substitutes a fixed fee of £150 for the ad valorem charge of £2.50 per £1,000 or part thereof in respect of estates with an assessed value exceeding £40,000 and not exceeding £70,000.
