CHANGES IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 17(2) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973(1) to give effect to proposals made by the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland under section 14(2) of that Act, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Strathclyde and Dumfries and Galloway Regions and Kyle and Carrick and Wigtown Districts (Lagafater Lodge and Shennas Lodge, New Luce) Boundaries Amendment Order 1987, and shall come into force on 1st October 1987.
2. In this Order-
"the 1977 Regulations" means the Local Government Area Changes (Scotland) Regulations 1977(2); and
"boundary map" means the map prepared by the Scottish Office, marked "The Strathclyde and Dumfries and Galloway Regions and Kyle and Carrick and Wigtown Districts (Lagafater Lodge and Shennas Lodge, New Luce) Boundaries Amendment Order 1987 Map" and deposited in accordance with regulation 3 of the 1977 Regulations;
and, in the Schedule to this Order any reference to a boundary of a region is a reference to a boundary existing immediately before the commencement of this Order.
3. The 1977 Regulations shall apply for the purpose of this Order to such an extent as may be required to implement the area change effected by article 4 of this Order.
4. Part of Kyle and Carrick District in Strathclyde Region containing Lagafater Lodge and Shennas Lodge near New Luce, being the area described in the Schedule to this Order and shown delineated and hatched on the boundary map, shall be transferred to Wigtown District in Dumfries and Galloway Region.
5. The area described in the Schedule to this Order (being the area transferred by article 4 of this Order)-
(a)shall cease to form part of electoral division 101 (Carrick) of Strathclyde Region(3) and of ward 25 (Carrick South) of Kyle and Carrick District(4); and
(b)shall form part of electoral division 3 (Moors) of Dumfries and Galloway Region(5) and of ward 5 (Glencowan) of Wigtown District(6).

The area bounded by a line commencing at a point on the southern boundary of Strathclyde Region at grid reference NX09987259 where that boundary is crossed by a fence line thence northwestwards along a field boundary to grid reference NX09517332, then northeastwards and thence southeastwards thence generally northeastwards by field boundaries to grid reference NX12777836, thence eastwards and northeastwards by a field boundary to grid reference NX13507853, thence eastwards, southeastwards, northeastwards thence southeastwards, thence generally southwards by field boundaries to grid reference NX15107707, thence southeastwards by field boundaries to the Pilhatchie Burn, thence generally southwards along that burn to the regional boundary at grid reference NX15787540, thence southwestwards and thence generally westwards along the regional boundary to the point of commencement.

This Order transfers an area of approximately 2554 hectares at Lagafater Lodge and Shennas Lodge, New Luce from Kyle and Carrick District in Strathclyde Region to Wigtown District in Dumfries and Galloway Region and makes consequential changes to electoral arrangements.
The map annexed to and forming part of this note gives a general guide to the areas affected by this Order as from 1st October 1987.
Copies of the detailed boundary map defined in Article 2 of this Order may be inspected at the offices of any of the local authorities referred to in this Order, and may be inspected at or purchased from the Scottish Development Department's Map Library, New St Andrew's House, St. James' Centre, Edinburgh EH1 3SZ.
S.I. 1977/8.
The electoral divisions of Strathclyde Region were constituted by S.I. 1979/673, to which there are amendments not relevant to this Order.
The wards of Kyle and Carrick District were constituted by S.I. 1981/846, to which there are amendments not relevant to this Order.
The electoral divisions of Dumfries and Galloway Region were constituted by S.I. 1977/1986, to which there are amendments not relevant to this Order.
The wards of Wigtown District were constituted by S.I. 1978/1642.
