1.-(1) This Order may be cited as the Manchester Ship Canal Revision Order 1987 and shall come into force on 19th October 1987.
(2) The Manchester Ship Canal Acts and Orders 1885 to 1984 and this Order may be cited together as the Manchester Ship Canal Acts and Orders 1885 to 1987.
2. In this Order -
"the Company" means the Manchester Ship Canal Company;
"the directors" means the directors of the Company;
"the dock" means so much of the dock of the Company in the city of Salford known as Dock No. 9 as lies to the east of an imaginary straight line drawn in a south-easterly direction across the dock from National Grid reference point SJ 380428 397295;
"the harbour" means the harbour and port of Manchester.
3.-(1) Subject to the provisions of this article, the Company may, on such date as the directors may by resolution determine, abandon and discontinue the dock and the Company may -
(a)use for the general purposes of the harbour the site of the dock and, if they think fit, fill it in in whole or in part; or
(b)exercise with reference to the dock the powers exercisable by them with reference to surplus lands.
(2) Within one month of the passing of a resolution of the directors under paragraph (1) of this article, the Company shall give notice of the effect of the resolution by advertisement in such local newspaper as they may deem expedient for causing the resolution to be made known to persons affected thereby.
(3) If such a resolution is passed the Company shall have regard to the need to provide for the possible future resumption of cargo handling in exercising their rights over their lands adjacent to the unclosed portion of Dock No. 9 and to Salford Quay.
4. The costs, charges and expenses of and incidental to the preparing and obtaining of this Order and otherwise in relation thereto shall be paid by the Company and may in whole or in part be defrayed out of revenue.

This Order authorises the Manchester Ship Canal Company to abandon the greater part of Dock No. 9 in the city of Salford.
The applicant for the Order is the Manchester Ship Canal Company, Dock Office, Trafford Road, Manchester M5 2XB.
