The Education (Grants for Training of Teachers and Community Education Workers) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1987

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 73(a), (f) and (g) and 74(1) of the Education (Scotland) Act 1980(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Grants for Training of Teachers and Community Education Workers) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1987 and shall come into force on 22nd March 1987.

Amendment of principal regulations

2. For the Schedule to the Education (Grants for Training of Teachers and Community Education Workers) (Scotland) Regulations 1986(2) there shall be substituted the Schedule to these Regulations.

Regulation 2

SCHEDULESUBJECT AREAS IN RESPECT OF WHICH GRANTS MAY BE PAID

Nursery and primary education

Environmental studies in the context of primary education development programme packages.

The management of change in the primary school.

Information technology: the impact on learning and teaching in the primary school.

Secondary education

Technological education in the secondary school.

Information technology: the impact on learning and teaching in the secondary school curriculum.

Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of secondary education for purposes of accountability and professional development.

Current issues for management in the secondary school.

Courses in support of Standard Grade.

Secondary and further education

The impact of the Technical and Vocational Education Initiative on the secondary curriculum and the professional development of teachers.

Extension of the Technical and Vocational Education Initiative.

Managing change at 16+.

Special educational needs

Education and personal development in the physically disabled young person.

General

The problem of drugs misuse.

The use of microcomputers.

Management for promoted staff in schools.

Multicultural education and anti-racist perspectives in relation to school education in Scotland.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Education (Grants for Training of Teachers and Community Education Workers) (Scotland) Regulations 1986.

The Schedule to the 1986 Regulations lists subject areas in respect of which grants may be paid under the 1986 Regulations to enable teachers or community education workers to attend courses. These Regulations substitute a new list of subject areas reflecting the courses now available.
