Parliamentary Under Secretary of State,
Department of Trade and Industry
3rd December 1987
(This note is not part of the Order)
The Secretary of State granted to Kingston upon Hull City Council and Kingston Communications (Hull) PLC on 30th November 1987 licences under section 7 of the Telecommunications Act 1984 ("the Act") to run the telecommunication systems specified in Annex A to those licences in the Hull area. A copy of the licences was laid before Parliament on 4th December 1987. This Order replaces the Public Telecommunications System Designation (Kingston upon Hull) Order 1984 which applied to a licence granted to Kingston upon Hull City Council on 25th June 1984 and designates the telecommunication systems specified in the new licences, which replace the earlier licence as public telecommunication systems. Consequently, by virtue of section 9(3) of the Act, Kingston upon Hull City Council continues to be and Kingston Communications (Hull) PLC becomes a public telecommunications operator when the Order comes into force.
A copy of the new licences may be obtained from the Office of Telecommunications, Atlantic House, Holborn Viaduct, London EC1N 2HQ.
S.I. 1984/856, made under sections 9 and 104 of the Act.
