Whereas on 7th October 1986 I was notified of the vacancy of the seat of the Representative in the Assembly of the European Communities for the constituency of Midlands West by that Assembly under Article 12(2) of the Act concerning the election of the representatives of the European Assembly by direct universal suffrage annexed to the decision of the Council of the European Communities dated 20th September 1976(1):
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by paragraph 3(3) of Schedule 1 to the European Assembly Elections Act 1978(2), I hereby make the following Order:-
1. This Order may be cited as the European Assembly Elections (Day of By-election) (Midlands West Constituency) Order 1987 and shall come into force on 23rd January 1987.
2. The by-election to fill the vacancy in the European Assembly constituency of Midlands West shall be held on 5th March 1987.
