The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 7 of the Trade Union (Amalgamations, etc.) Act 1964(1) and section 8(4) of the Trade Union and Labour Relations Act 1974(2) and section 8(2) of the Employment Protection Act 1975(3) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and as respects Regulation 2 with the approval of the Treasury, hereby makes the following Regulations:
1.-(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Certification Officer (Amendment of Fees) Regulations 1987 and shall come into force on 1st April 1987.
(2) The Certification Officer (Amendment of Fees) Regulations 1986(4) are hereby revoked.
2. In Regulation 11 of the Trade Unions and Employers' Associations (Amalgamations, etc.) Regulations 1975(5) for the words "£123" (fee for registration of an instrument of amalgamation or transfer) there shall be substituted the words "£130", for the words "£7.75" (fee for approval of a change of name) there shall be substituted the words "£8.00" and for the words "£1.60" (fee for every inspection on the same day of documents kept by the Certification Officer under the 1964 Act relating to one and the same organisation) there shall be substituted the words "£2.00".
3. In section 8(4) of the Trade Union and Labour Relations Act 1974 for the words "£25" (fee on application by an organisation of workers or of employers to have its name entered in the list of trade unions or employers' associations, as the case may be) there shall be substituted the words "£26".
4. In section 8(2) of the Employment Protection Act 1975 for the words "£150" (fee on application by a trade union for a certificate of independence) there shall be substituted the words "£156".

These Regulations, which come into force on 1st April 1987, increase the fees specified herein payable to the Certification Officer.
The Regulations revoke the Certification Officer (Amendment of Fees) Regulations 1986, which previously prescribed these fees.
Regulation 3 of the Certification Officer (Amendment of Fees) Regulations 1981 remains in force and prescribes the fee payable to the Certification Officer for the entry of an amalgamated organisation on the list of trade unions or employers' associations maintained by the Certification Officer under section 8 of the Trade Union and Labour Relations Act 1974 where each of the amalgamating organisations is already entered on the list (£12.50), which has not been increased.
