The London-Fishguard Trunk Road (A48) (County of Mid Glamorgan) Detrunking Order 1987

Coming into force

1st April 1987

The Secretary of State makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980(1) and of all other enabling powers:

1.  The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road as from the date on which this Order comes into force.

2.  In this Order-

(i)"the deposited plan"

means the plan numbered HA10/2-WO55 marked "The London-Fishguard Trunk Road (A48) (County of Mid Glamorgan) Detrunking Order 1987", signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Welsh Office, Departmental Records Office, Curran Embankment, Cardiff CF1 5DX;

(ii)"principal road"

as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purpose of enactments and instruments which refer to a highway classified as a principal road and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to a highway classified by the Secretary of State;

(iii)"the trunk road"

means The London-Fishguard Trunk Road (A48).

3.  This Order shall come into force on 1st April 1987 and may be cited as The London-Fishguard Trunk Road (A48) (County of Mid Glamorgan) Detrunking Order 1987.

SCHEDULETHE LENGTH OF TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD

The length of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is in the County of Mid Glamorgan and is the length from the South Glamorgan County boundary adjacent to Brocastle Farm near Cowbridge and proceeding in a general north-westerly direction for about 13.8 kilometres to the West Glamorgan County boundary at Pyle Bridge (the length being marked "A" to "B" on the deposited plan).
