The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 33(2) and (3) of the Petroleum and Submarine Pipe-lines Act 1975(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after giving those persons affected an opportunity of being heard with respect to the matter, hereby makes the following Order:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Submarine Pipe-lines (Designated Owners) (No. 27) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 1st October 1988.
2. In this Order-
"the Act" means the Petroleum and Submarine Pipe-lines Act 1975;
"the Forties Charlie platform" means the offshore installation known as the Forties Charlie platform which is situated above the Forties oilfield east of the coast of Scotland;
"the Forties-Cruden Bay pipe-line" means so much of the 32 inch pipe-line which lies between the Forties Charlie platform and the terminal situated at Cruden Bay in the Grampian Region of Scotland as is a controlled pipe-line;
"the platform apparatus" means all the apparatus and works of a kind specified in paragraph (a), (aa), (c), (d) or (f) of section 33(1) of the Act(2) which is or are both part of the Forties-Cruden Bay pipe-line and attached to the Forties Charlie platform.
3. For the purposes of Part III of the Act, except section 33(2), the platform apparatus and the remainder of the Forties-Cruden Bay pipe-line shall be treated as separate pipe-lines.
4. For the purposes of Part III of the Act, the persons specified in Part I of the Schedule hereto are hereby designated as the owners of the platform apparatus and the person specified in Part II of the Schedule is hereby designated as owner of the remainder of the Forties-Cruden Bay pipe-line.

This Order designates owners of the pipe-line which lies between the Forties Charlie platform, an offshore installation situated above the Forties oilfield east of the coast of Scotland, and the terminal at Cruden Bay in the Grampian Region of Scotland. The companies listed in Part I of the Schedule are designated as owners of apparatus and works which are both part of the pipe-line and are attached to the platform. BP Petroleum Development Ltd is designated as the owner of those parts of the remainder of the pipe-line which are in controlled waters, that is the territorial sea and areas designated under the Continental Shelf Act 1964 (c. 29).
Section 33(1) was amended by the Oil and Gas (Enterprise) Act 1982 (c. 23), section 25(1).
