Whereas the Secretary of State for Transport in exercise of his powers under section 14(2) and (6) of the Merchant Shipping Act 1974(1) (hereinafter called"the Act") made the Merchant Shipping (Protection of Shipping and Trading Interests) (USSR) Order 1986(2) requiring certain persons in the United Kingdom connected with ships registered in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, and their agents, to provide him with information concerning the loading and unloading in the United Kingdom of cargo in certain trades:
And whereas the Secretary of State now no longer needs that information to be provided:
And whereas the Secretary of State has held the consultations required by section 14(7) of the Act:
Now therefore the Secretary of State, in exercise of his powers under section 14(2) and (6) of the Act and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Protection of Shipping and Trading Interests) (USSR) (Revocation) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 1st December 1988.
2. The Merchant Shipping (Protection of Shipping and Trading Interests) (USSR) Order 1986 is hereby revoked.

This Order revokes the Merchant Shipping (Protection of Shipping and Trading Interests) (USSR) Order 1986, which required certain persons in the United Kingdom connected with Soviet shipping lines to provide information to the Secretary of State concerning carryings by Soviet lines in the trades between the United Kingdom and East Africa, the United Kingdom and the Far East and the United Kingdom and Central America.
