INDUSTRIAL ORGANISATION ANDDEVELOPMENT

Whereas the Secretary of State has consulted the organisations appearing to him to be representative of substantial numbers of persons carrying on business in the iron casting industry and the organisations representative of persons employed in that industry appearing to him to be appropriate:
And whereas a draft of this Order has been approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament:
Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 9 of the Industrial Organisation and Development Act 1947(1), hereby makes the following Order:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Iron Casting (Scientific Research Levy) (Abolition) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 15th December 1988.
2. The Iron Casting Industry (Scientific Research Levy) Order 1971(2) shall have effect as if in article 5 after the words "in each year" there were inserted the words "up to and including the levy period ending on 30th June 1990".

(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order provides that the Iron Casting (Scientific Research Levy) Order 1971, as amended, shall cease to have effect as respects the imposition of the levy for any period after 30th June 1990.
The 1971 Order imposed an obligation to pay levies on the iron casting industry to finance scientific research to be carried out in connection with the industry by the British Cast Iron Research Association.
