The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 28B(1), (3) and (4) of the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages (Scotland) Act 1965 (1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Community Charges (Notification of Deaths) (Scotland) Regulations 1988 and shall come into force on 1st February 1989.
2. In these Regulations-
"the Officer" means the Community Charges Registration Officer of each region or islands area within which the registration district wholly or partly falls;
"the registrar" means the district registrar for each registration district.
3. The registrar shall furnish to the Officer in respect of the death of any person aged 16 years or over and usually resident in the United Kingdom the following particulars of the deceased:-
(a)the surname and name;
(b)the date of birth;
(c)the date of death;
(d)the usual residence; and
(e)the district where the death was registered.
4. The registrar shall, within 7 days of registration of such death, notify the Officer by sending to him such form as is from time to time approved by the Registrar General for such purpose with the particulars prescribed in the above paragraph duly entered thereon.

These Regulations prescribe the particulars of death of persons over the age of 16 years usually resident in the United Kingdom which the district registrar for each registration district shall furnish to the appropriate Community Charges Registration Officer (regulation 3).
They also prescribe the time limit of 7 days from the date of the registration of the death concerned and the manner in which such notification shall be made (regulation 4).
