Whereas the Greater Manchester Residuary Body, acting pursuant to section 67(2) of the Local Government Act 1985(1), has submitted proposals to the Secretary of State for the transfer of certain of its properties to the Manchester City Council and he has decided to give effect to those proposals without modification;
Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 67(3) of that Act, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Local Government Reorganisation (Property) (Greater Manchester) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 10th May 1988.
2.-(1) There shall vest in the Manchester City Council -
(a)the St. Thomas Centre, Ardwick Green North, Manchester registered at Her Majesty's Land Registry under Title Number GM216146;
(b)the St. Thomas Centre car park, Paddock Street, Manchester registered at Her Majesty's Land Registry under Title Numbers GM236695 and GM186656; and
(c)the Zion Institute, Zion Crescent, Hulme, Manchester registered at Her Majesty's Land Registry under Title Number GM054411.
(2) The land vested in the Manchester City Council by paragraph (1) shall be held by that council for the joint use and benefit of itself and of all the councils of the other districts in the county of Greater Manchester.
3. There shall vest in the Manchester City Council all rights and liabilities of the Greater Manchester Residuary Body acquired or incurred exclusively in connection with any of the land vested in that council by article 2.

This Order transfers to the Manchester City Council the properties specified in its article 2 together with rights and liabilities ancillary to those properties. The properties were formerly owned by the Greater Manchester County Council and, on the abolition of that council by the Local Government Act 1985, were transferred to the Greater Manchester Residuary Body under that Act.
