The Secretary of State for Wales makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980(1) and of all other enabling powers:-
1. The new highway which the Secretary of State proposes to construct along the route described in Schedule 1 to this Order shall become a trunk road as from the date when this Order comes into force.
2. The centre line of the new trunk road is indicated by a heavy black line on the deposited plan.
3. The length of trunk road described in Schedule 2 to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be a trunk road and shall become an unclassified road as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the County Council of Gwynedd that the new trunk road is open for through traffic.
4. In this Order:-
(i)"the deposited plan"means the plan numbered HA10/2-WO65 marked"The Chester-Bangor Trunk Road (Conwy Morfa to Llanfairfechan, Pen-y-Clip Section) Order 1988" signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Wales and deposited at the Welsh Office Repository, Curran Embankment, Cardiff;
(ii)"the new trunk road"means the highway mentioned in article 1 of this Order;
(iii)"the trunk road"means the Chester-Bangor Trunk Road (A55).
5. This Order shall come into force on 9th May 1988, and may be cited as the Chester-Bangor Trunk Road (Conwy Morfa to Llanfairfechan, Pen-y-Clip Section) Order 1988.

A route about 860 metres in length starting at a point about 210 metres north-west of the south-west corner of the disused Crimea Incline Bridge and extending in a general westerly and then south-westerly direction to a point 530 metres north-east of the junction of Mona Terrace with that section of the trunk road known as Penmaenmawr Road.
The length of trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is part of that length of the A55 known as Penmaenmawr Road starting at a point about 10 metres north-east of its junction with Mona Terrace and terminating at a point about 250 metres north-east of its junction with Mona Terrace.
