The A51/A52 Trunk Roads Nantwich (Detrunking) Order 1989

Coming into force

4th April 1989

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980(1), and now vested in him(2), and of all other enabling powers:

1. The length of the trunk roads described in the schedule hereto, and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be trunk roads and shall be classified as classified roads as from the date on which the new trunk road is open for through traffic.

2. In this Order-�

(a)the measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway; and

(b)(i)"the deposited plan"

means the plan numbered HA10/1 CNW 262, marked "The A51/A52 Trunk Roads Nantwich (Detrunking) Order 1989" signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London, SW1P 3PY;

(ii)"the new trunk road"

means the new trunk road to be provided by the Secretary of State in pursuance of the A51/52 North of Newcastle-under-Lyme-�Nantwich-�Tarporley-�Tarvin Trunk Road (Nantwich Bypass) Order 1989;

(iii)"classified road"

as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is not a principal road for the purposes of enactments or instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads but is a classified road for the purpose of every enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State and which does not specifically refer to their classification as principal roads.

(iv)"the trunk roads"

means the North of Newcastle-under-Lyme-�Nantwich-�Tarporley-�Tarvin Trunk Roads (A51/A52).

3. This Order shall come into force on 4th April and may be cited as the A51/A52 Trunk Roads Nantwich (Detrunking) Order 1989.

SCHEDULELENGTH OF ROAD CEASING TO BE TRUNK ROADS

The length of road ceasing to be trunk roads is about 3.61 kilometres of trunk road comprising 0.95 kilometres of the A52 trunk road (Newcastle Road) from its junction with Cheerbrook Road to its junction with the A51 trunk road 100 metres south of the Crewe-�Shrewsbury railway line and 2.66 kilometres of the A51 trunk road from that point to its junction with B5074 Winsford Road all at Nantwich in the County of Cheshire.

Note: Unit of length: 1 kilometre = 0.621 of a mile approx
