1. This Order may be cited as the Immigration (Jersey) (Variation) Order 1989 and shall come into force on 15th April 1989.
2. The Immigration (Jersey) Order 1972(3) shall be further varied in accordance with the provisions of the Schedule to this Order.

Article 2
1. After article 4 there shall be inserted the following article:
"5. The provisions of the Immigration (Carriers' Liability) Act 1987 shall extend to the Bailiwick of Jersey with such exceptions, adaptations and modifications as are specified in the Schedule hereto.".
2.-(1) The Schedule shall be varied in accordance with the following provisions of this paragraph.
(2) In paragraph 1(1) after "that Act" there shall be inserted "or to the Immigration (Carriers' Liability) Act 1987 or any provision thereof".
(3) In paragraph 2(2), after "paragraph 1(4)," there shall be inserted "and in section 1(1) and (5) of the Immigration (Carriers' Liability) Act 1987,".
(4) After paragraph 36 there shall be added the following provisions:
37. In section 1-�
(a)in subsection (1), for the words from "the sum" to the end there shall be substituted "such sum, not exceeding £1000 or such other sum as may be prescribed, as the Committee may determine";
(b)in subsection (3), for the words from "Secretary of State" to the end there shall be substituted "Committee; and the Subordinate Legislation (Jersey) Law 1960 shall apply to any such order", and
(c)in subsection (5), for "into the Consolidated Fund" there shall be substituted "to the Treasurer of the States and credited to the Annual Income of the States".
38. In section 2-�
(a)subsection (3) shall be omitted, and
(b)in subsection (4), for "4th March 1987" there shall be substituted "the date of the extension of this Act to the Bailiwick of Jersey".".

This Order varies the Immigration (Jersey) Order 1972, as amended, so as to extend to the Bailiwick of Jersey the Immigration (Carriers' Liability) Act 1987 with exceptions, adaptations and modifications.
