The Oxfordshire County Council (Wallingford Bypass River Thames Bridge) Scheme 1989 Confirmation Instrument 1990

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Instrument in exercise of powers conferred by section 106(3) of the Highways Act 1980(1), and now vested in him(2), and of all other enabling powers:

1. The Oxfordshire County Council (Wallingford Bypass River Thames Bridge) Scheme 1989 is hereby confirmed without modifications.

2. The said Scheme as confirmed (hereinafter referred to as "the Scheme") is set out in the Schedule hereto and copies of the Scheme with its accompanying plan are deposited at the offices of the Department of Transport, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY and at the offices of the Oxfordshire County Council, Speedwell House, Speedwell Street, Oxford OX1 1NE.

3. The Scheme will become operative on the date on which notice that it has been confirmed is first published in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 2 to the Highways Act 1980.

4. This Instrument may be cited as the Oxfordshire County Council (Wallingford Bypass River Thames Bridge) Scheme 1989 Confirmation Instrument 1990.

THE SCHEDULETHE OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (WALLINGFORD BYPASS RIVER THAMES BRIDGE ) SCHEME 1989

The Oxfordshire County Council (hereinafter referred to as "the Council") make this Scheme in exercise of their powers under Section 106 of the Highways Act 1980 and all other enabling powers:-�

1. The Council are authorised to construct over the navigable waters of the River Thames the bridge specified in the Schedule to this Scheme, in the parishes of Cholsey and Crowmarsh in the County of Oxfordshire, as part of the highway which they are proposed to construct between the Wantage Road (A4130) at Brightwell-cum-Sotwell and Port Way (A4074) forming part of the Wallingford Bypass.

2. This Scheme may be cited as the Oxfordshire County Council (Wallingford Bypass River Thames Bridge) Scheme 1989.

THE SCHEDULE TO THE SCHEME

Plans and Specifications of Bridge over the River Thames at Wallingford

The site and general design of the bridge are shown on the plan numbered B1134/B509 annexed hereto.

Points of Commencement and Termination

From a point map reference 460761 East, 188086 North to a point map reference 460874 East 188107 North all on Ordnance sheet SU6088, (Being 1400 metres downstream of the existing Wallingford Bridge).

Overall Dimensions

The bridge will be 13.8 metres wide overall and will carry a 7.3 metre wide carriageway with a 1.0 metre hard strip and a footway of 1.5 metres width on either side. It will have an overall length of 134 metres between the ends of the parapets.

Navigation Span

The navigation square span will be maintained at 50 metres.

Headway

A minimum headway of 5.1 metres above standard head water level over a width of 15.24 metres will be provided.
