1. The Secretary of State is authorised to provide along the route described in the Schedule hereto a special road for the use of traffic of Classes I and II of the classes of traffic set out in Schedule 4 to the Highways Act 1980.
2. The centre line of the special road is indicated by a heavy black line on the deposited plan.
3. The special road shall become a trunk road on the date when this Scheme comes into force.
4. In this Scheme:-
(1) all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway.
(i)(2) (i) "the deposited plan" | means the plan numbered RSE/0/M20/4/1/24/6 marked "The M20 Motorway (Chrismill Bridge Section) Scheme 1990", signed by authority of he Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London, SW1P 3PY; |
(ii)"the motorway" | means the special road provided in pursuance of the Maidstone By-Pass Special Road Scheme 1958(3); |
(iii)"the special road" | means the special road mentioned in article 1 of this Scheme. |
5. This Scheme shall come into force on 14th December 1990 and may be cited as the M20 Motorway (Chrismill Bridge Section) Scheme 1990.

A route, about 1100 metres in length starting at a point on the M20 Motorway 700 metres east of Water Lane Bridge in the District of Maidstone in the Country of Kent and proceeding in a generally south eastwards direction and ending at a point on the M20 motorway approximately 220 metres westwards of the Hollingbourne Interchange East bridge in the Borough of Maidstone in the County of Kent.
