1. This Order shall come into force on 14th January 1991 and may be cited as the Consular Fees (Amendment) Order 1990.

2. Part II of the table of consular fees in the Schedule annexed to the Consular Fees Order 1989(2) is amended as follows-

• under Fee 22 delete subparagraphs 1(a) and 1(b) and replace them with the following words

  "(a)Receiving an application outside the United Kingdom for

  (i)an entry clearance for settlement or for marriage, a certificate of entitlement to the right of abode or a confirmation of the right of abode ... ... ... ... 80.00

  (ii)an entry clearance for other purposes ... ... ... ... 60.00

  • unless

    (b)

    the applicant seeks entry clearance for employment or self-employment for a period of six months or less, or as a returning resident, visitor, student, passenger in transit, "au pair" or for a working holiday, in which case the fee is-

    (i)

    for one entry, where the applicant is under 25 years of age ... ... ... ... 10.00

    (ii)

    for one entry, where the applicant is 25 years of age or over ... ... ... ... 20.00

    (iii)

    for two entries ... ... ... ... 30.00

    (iv)

    for multiple entries, valid for two years from date of issue ... ... ... ... 40.00

  • or

    (i)

    for multiple entries, valid for five years from date of issue ... ... ... ... 85.00

  • or such sums (being the equivalent of fees charged by the authorities of any State for receiving or granting an application for an entry clearance to a British citizen) as the Secretary of State, with the consent of the Treasury, for an entry clearance from a national or citizen of that State."

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the Consular Fees Order 1989 so as to expand the category of longer-term entry clearance (Fee 22(1)(a)(i)) to include settlement and marriage and increase the fee from £60 to £80. A separate category of longer-term entry clearance for other purposes is created (Fee 22(1)(a)(ii)) with a fee of £60. The fees for receiving an application for entry clearance in other categories of applicant (Fee 22(1)(b)) are varied by reducing the fee for single entry where the applicant is under 25 years of age from £20 to £10. In addition, the category of multiple entries is further sub-divided into multiple entry clearance valid for two years, with a fee reduced from £44 to £40, and a new multiple entry clearance valid for five years with a fee of £85.
