Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order further amends the Police (Grant) Order 1966. The percentage of a police authority's share of the Secretary of State's expenditure on common services which is to be deducted from the authority's grant is fixed at 49 per cent (article 2), except in the case of the Metropolitan Police District where the percentage is 48 (article 4). The revocation (by article 3) of article 3 of the 1966 Order brings the City of London's grant up to the same level as those of most other police authorities (51 per cent of net expenditure).

(2)

S.I. 1966/223; relevant amendments were made by S.I. 1974/1277, 1986/455, 1989/1182.
