1. The lengths of trunk road described in the schedule to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be trunk road and shall be classified as classified roads as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the County Council of Leicestershire that the new trunk roads are open for through traffic.
2. In this Order:-�
(1) all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;
(2) (i) "classified road" as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is not a principal road for the purposes of enactments or instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads but is a classified road for the purpose of every enactment and instrument which refers to highways classifed by the Secretary of State and which does not specifically refer to their classification as principal roads;
(ii)"the deposited plan" means the plan folio numbered HA10/EM40 marked "The (A6) London-�Carlisle Trunk Road and the (A46) Bath-�Lincoln Trunk Road (Leicester Western Bypass) (Detrunk ing) Order 1991", containing 2 maps, signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY; and
(iii)"the new trunk roads" means the highways to be constructed by the Secretary of State in pursuance of the (A46) Bath-�Lincoln Trunk Road (Leicester West ern Bypass and Slip Roads) Order 1991.
3. This Order shall come into force on 27th November 1991 and may be cited as the (A6) London-�Carlisle Trunk Road and the (A46) Bath-�Lincoln Trunk Road (Leicester Western Bypass) (Detrunking) Order 1991.

The length of the (A6) London-�Carlisle Trunk Road in the Parishes of Birstall and Wanlip in the District of Charnwood in the County of Leicestershire which is situated between the Leicester City Boundary and a point 63 metres south of its junction with Fillingate (B673), a distance of approximately 2.98 kilometres.
The length of the (A46) Bath-�Lincoln Trunk Road in the Parishes of Thurmaston and Syston in the said District and County which is situated between the Leicester City Boundary and a point 317 metres north of the centre line of Wanlip Road Overbridge, a distance of approximately 3.46 kilometres.
