Whereas, pursuant to section 2(1)(a) of the Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors Act 1992(1) the United Kingdom Central Council for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting has submitted to me for approval a proposal with respect to the number of members of which it is to consist after the coming into force of section 1 of that Act:
Now, therefore, in exercise of the power conferred upon me by section 2(4) of the Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors Act 1992, I hereby signify my approval of the proposal that after the coming into force of section 1 of that Act the United Kingdom Central Council for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting shall consist of sixty members.
This Order may be cited as the United Kingdom Central Council for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting (Membership Proposal) Approval Order 1992.

This Order approves the proposal of the United Kingdom Central Council for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting that its membership shall consist of sixty members after the coming into force of section 1 of the Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors Act 1992. By virtue of sub-section (2) of that section, forty of the sixty members would be appointed by the Secretary of State following an election, and twenty would be appointed by the Secretary of State in accordance with sub-sections (4) and (5) of that section (which lay down criteria for meeting the appointments).
