The Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by section 11 of the National Debt Act 1972(1), and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Savings Certificates (Amendment) Regulations 1992 and shall come into force on 7th December 1992.
2. The Savings Certificates Regulations 1991(2) shall be amended in Regulation 2(1) by substituting for the words "is issued" in the definition of "unit" the words "may be issued (regardless of whether, in particular circumstances, a certificate may be issued only for a greater amount)".

These Regulations amend the Savings Certificates Regulations 1991 so as to amend the definition of the word "unit"in those Regulations. The amended definition provides that a unit is the minimum amount for which a certificate of a particular series may be issued under the terms of an issue even where the terms provide for some greater amount to be the minimum in certain circumstances.
