1. The County Council of Avon (Avon Valley Bridge) Scheme 1989 is hereby confirmed with modifications.
2. The said Scheme as confirmed ("the Scheme") is set out in the Schedule hereto. Copies of the Scheme with its accompanying Schedule are deposited at the offices of the Department of Transport, and at the offices of the County Council of Avon, Floor 6, Avon House, The Haymarket, Bristol and at Hanham Library, High Street, Hanham.
3. The Scheme will become operative on the date on which notice that it has been confirmed is first published in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 2 to the Highways Act 1980.
4. This Instrument may be cited as the County Council of Avon (Avon Valley Bridge) Scheme 1989 Confirmation Instrument 1992.

The County Council of Avon (hereinafter referred to as "the Council") make the Scheme in exercise of their powers under Section 106(3) of the Highways Act 1980 and of all other enabling powers:-
1. The Council are authorised, as part of the highway which they are proposing to construct between Marsham Way and the A4 Bath Road (Keynsham Bypass) in the County of Avon, to construct over the navigable waters of the River Avon the bridge specified in the Schedule to this Scheme (to be known as the Avon Valley Bridge) located close to Hanham Mills and spanning Bickley Wood in the District of Kingswood and partly in the City of Bristol on the north side and Fox Covert in the District of Wansdyke on the south side.
2. This Scheme may be cited as the County Council of Avon (Avon Valley Bridge) Scheme 1989.
LOCATION: | The bridge will carry the two carriageways of the Avon Ring Road across the Avon Valley 500 metres north of the A4 Keynsham Bypass. |
DIMENSIONS: | The proposed 3-span bridge of length 175 metres and width 28.9 metres will accommodate a dual 2-lane carriageway and 2 footway/cycleways. Both piers will be in excess of 20 metres from the river bank. |
CONSTRUCTION: | Concrete piers and abutments support the deck which will consist of plate girders acting compositely with a thin concrete deck slab. |
HEADROOM: | The minimum headroom above normal river level (6.50m AOD) will be 20.5 metres due to a weir downstream of the bridge, only spring tides affect water level. HWOST=6.90m AOD. |
