The Secretary of State for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 6(3) and 15(6) and (7) of the Local Government Act 1988(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
1.-(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Local Government Act 1988 (Competition) (South Wight Borough Council) (Sports and Leisure) Regulations 1992 and shall come into force on 31st January 1992.

"the Act" means the Local Government Act 1988;

"specified work" has the same meaning as in the principal Regulations.
2.-(1) Regulation 2 of the principal Regulations shall not apply in relation to specified work proposed to be carried out by the Council.

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations postpone, in the case of South Wight Borough Council, the requirement in the Local Government Act 1988 (Defined Activities) (Competition) (England) Regulations 1990 that the management of sports and leisure facilities be put out to competitive tendering. This requirement, which would otherwise take effect on 31st January 1992, is postponed to 1st January 1993.
