(This note is not part of the Regulations)

They remove the minimum sugar composition requirements (regulation 2 and Schedule 1 paragraphs 1, 2, 5 and 6 and regulation 4 and Schedule 2 paragraphs 1, 2, 5 and 6) and make amendments consequent thereto.

The higher maximum permitted quantities of saccharin specified in Schedule 2 Part II of those Regulations for soft drinks for consumption after dilution other than semi sweet soft drinks continue to apply, until 1st January 1994, to soft drinks other than semi sweet soft drinks intended for consumption without dilution (other than soda water) provided that such soft drinks contain not less than 22½ pounds of sugar per 10 gallons (regulations 1(2), 3 and 5).
