The Secretary of State, being a Minister designated(1) for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972(2) in relation to measures relating to the abolition of restrictions on the importation of goods, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the said section 2(2) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Post Office (Abolition of Import Restrictions) Regulations 1993 and shall come into force on 22nd June 1993.
2. In section 63(5) of the Post Office Act 1953(3) (which prohibits the importation into the United Kingdom of fictitious postage stamps and dies, plates, instruments and materials for making them) after the words "United Kingdom" there shall be inserted the words "from a place outside the member States".

These Regulations amend section 63(5) of the Post Office Act 1953 by removing the prohibition on the importation into the United Kingdom of fictitious postage stamps and dies, plates, instruments and materials for making them, where such importation is from a country which is a member State of the European Communities.
