The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 89(3) and (4)(b), 105(1), (2)(a), (3) and (4), 108(1)(1), and 192(1)(2) of the Road Traffic Act 1988(3), and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with representative organisations in accordance with section 195(2) of that Act, and with the approval of the Treasury, hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Large Goods and Passenger-Carrying Vehicles) (Amendment) Regulations 1993 and shall come into force on 16th July 1993.
2.-(1) The Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Large Goods and Passenger-Carrying Vehicles) Regulations 1990(4) shall be amended in accordance with the following provision of this regulation.
(2) In paragraph (2) of regulation 15 (Applications for tests) for sub-paragraphs (a) and (b) there shall be substituted the following sub-paragraphs-
"(a)in respect of a test to be conducted on a day other than a Saturday-
(i)£55.50 if the application for the test is made before 16th July 1993, and
(ii)£60 if the application is made on or after that date;
(b)in respect of a test to be conducted on a Saturday-
(i)£75 if the application for the test is made before 16th July 1993, and
(ii)£77.50 if the application is made on or after that date.".

These Regulations amend regulation 15 of the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Large Goods and Passenger-Carrying Vehicles) Regulations 1990 so as to increase the fee payable for a test of competence to drive a large goods or passenger-carrying vehicle (a) from £55.50 to £60 in respect of a test taken on a week-day, and (b) from £75 to £77.50 in respect of a test taken on a Saturday.These increased fees will not apply where the application for the test is made before 16th July 1993.

1988 c. 52; section 89(3)(a) was amended by the Road Traffic Act 1991 (c. 40), Schedule 4, paragraph 63; section 89(4)(b) is to be read with the Department of Transport (Fees) Order 1988 (S.I. 1988/643), where the relevant entries are to be found in Schedule 1, Table VI (see item 1A). Table VI was inserted by the Department of Transport (Fees) (Amendment) Order 1991 (S.I. 1991/811), and was amended by the Department of Transport (Fees) (Amendment) Order 1993 (S.I. 1993/1601); and section 105(2)(a) was amended by the Driving Licences (Community Driving Licence) Regulations 1990 (S.I. 1990/144), Schedule 1, paragraph 6(a).
