By the Lords of Her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council
Whereas in pursuance of section 11 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966((1)) the Council of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons has made the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations 1993 set out in Schedule 1 to this Order:
And whereas upon Regulation 5 of the said Regulations coming into force the revocations mentioned therein shall render wholly spent the Orders of Council listed in Schedule 2 to this Order:
Now, therefore, Their Lordships, having taken the said Regulations into consideration, are hereby pleased, in exercise of the power conferred on Them by section 25(1) of the said Act, to approve the same, and hereby revoke the Orders listed in Schedule 2 to this Order.
This Order may be cited as the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations Order of Council 1993.

The Council of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, in exercise of its powers under section 11 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966, hereby makes the following Regulations-
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations 1993.
2. Regulation 16 of the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners Registration Regulations 1967((2)), (hereinafter referred to as "the principal Regulations") shall be amended by the deletion of the second sentence and the substitution of the following therefor-
"This fee shall be paid at the time of the application for registration and shall be £135 for names entered on the Register before 31st March 1993 and £140.00 for names entered on the Register on 31st March 1993 and thereafter.".
3. Regulation 20 of the principal Regulations shall be amended by the deletion in paragraphs (a), (b), and (d) of the amounts "£118.00", "£35.00" and "£22.00" and the substitution therefor of the amounts "£123.00", "£36.00" and "£23.00" respectively.
4. Regulation 23 of the principal Regulations shall be amended by the deletion in the first and third sentences of paragraph (b) of the amount "£135.00" and the substitution therefor in each case of the amount "£140.00".
5. Regulation 5 of the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations 1974((3)), the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners Registration (Amendment) Regulations 1975((4)), the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations 1978,((5)) the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations 1980,((6)) the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners Registration (Amendment) Regulations 1984,((7)) Regulations 2, 3(a), 4, and 5 of the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations 1989((8)) and Regulations 2, and 5 of the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners Registration (Amendment) Regulations 1992((9)) are hereby revoked.
The Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations Order of Council 1978 (S.I. 1978/1809);
The Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations Order of Council 1980 (S.I. 1980/2004); and
The Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations Order of Council 1984 (S.I. 1984/2009).

The Regulations approved by this Order further amend the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners Registration Regulations 1967 by increasing, with effect from 31st March 1993, the fees payable for the registration and annual retention of names on the registers of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. The existing fees were fixed a year ago, and the level of increase ranges between 2.8 and 4.5 per cent.
