The National Health Service (District Health Authorities) (No. 2) Order 1994

The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of powers conferred on her by sections 8(1)(b) and (1A)(c) and 126(3) of the National Health Service Act 1977(1)and of all other powers enabling her in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1. This Order may be cited as the National Health Service (District Health Authorities)(No. 2) Order 1994 and shall come into force on 1st June 1994.

Abolition of Authorities

2. Newcastle Health Authority and North Tyneside Health Authority are hereby bolished.

Establishment and name of new Authority

3. A District Health Authority, to be called Newcastle and North Tyneside Health Authority, is hereby established for Newcastle and North Tyneside District.

4. In consequence of articles 2 and 3 of this Order, the National Health Service (District Health Authorities) Order 1990(2)shall be amended by the omission fromPart I of Schedule 1 of the entries in columns (1) and (2) relating to Newcastle District and North Tyneside District, and the insertion in those columns, immediately before the entries relating to Northumberland District, of the following entries:-

"Newcastle and North TynesideNewcastle and North Tyneside Health Authority".

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order abolishes on 1st June 1994 Newcastle Health Authority and North Tyneside Health Authority (article 2), and establishes the Newcastle and North Tyneside Health Authority (article 3). The National Health Service (District Health Authorities) Order 1990 is amended to reflect these changes (article 4).

The changes made to District Health Authorities in this Order are reflected in changes to the districts of the abolished health authorities made by the National Health Service (Determination of Districts) (No. 2) Order 1994.
