The Secretary of State for Transport, at the request of the South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive, and in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 17(2) of the South Yorkshire Light Rail Transit Act 1989(1)and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:-
1. -This Order may be cited as the South Yorkshire Light Rail Transit (Penalty Fares) (Activating) Order 1994 and shall come into force on 30th May 1994.
2. -Section 18 to 21 of the South Yorkshire Light Rail Transit Act 1989 shall haveeffect as from the date of coming into force of this Order with respect to travel on anyLRT vehicle.

This Order gives effect, as from the date the Order comes into force, to the penalty fare provisions in sections 18 to 21 of the South Yorkshire Light Rail Transit Act 1989 with respect to travel on any vehicle of the South Yorkshire Light Rail Transit system.
