The City Council of Sheffield (Broughton Lane Bridge) Scheme 1993 Confirmation Instrument 1994

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Instrument in exercise of powers conferred by section 106(3) of the Highways Act 1980(1), and now vested in him(2), and of all other enabling powers:-

1. The City Council of Sheffield (Broughton Lane Bridge) Scheme 1993 is hereby confirmed without modifications.

2. The said Scheme as confirmed (hereinafter referred to as "the Scheme") is set out in the Schedule hereto and copies of the Scheme with its accompanying plan are deposited at the Department of Transport, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY and at offices of the City Solicitor and Head of Administration, City Council of Sheffield, Town Hall, Sheffield, S1 2HH.

3. The Scheme will become operative on the date on which notice that it has been confirmed is first published in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 2 to the Highways Act 1980.

4. This Instrument may be cited as the City Council of Sheffield (Broughton Lane Bridge) Scheme 1993 Confirmation Instrument 1994.

THE SCHEDULETHE CITY COUNCIL OF SHEFFIELD (BROUGHTON LANE BRIDGE) SCHEME 1993

The City Council of Sheffield (hereinafter referred to as "the Council") make this Scheme in exercise of their powers under Section 106(3) of the Highways Act 1980 and of all other enabling powers:-

1. The Council are authorised to construct over the navigable waters of the Sheffield andTinsley Canal the bridge specified in the Schedule to this scheme as part of the highway which theyare proposing to construct and improve between Broughton Lane O.S.map reference 3885 8949 andGreenland Road at a point south of Coleford Road O.S.map reference 3933 8837 in Darnall,Sheffield, in the County of South Yorkshire.

2. This Scheme may be cited as the City Council of Sheffield (Broughton Lane Bridge) Scheme 1993.

THE SCHEDULE TO THE SCHEMEPLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE BROUGHTON LANE BRIDGE:

The location and details of the bridge are shown on plan no. BR/BA359/1/30

POINTS OF COMMENCEMENT AND TERMINATION:

From a point north of the Sheffield and Tinsley Canal 210 metres south-east of Surbiton Street, O.S.map grid reference 438940E, 389350N and proceeding south-eastwards over the Supertram andBritish Rail lines and the Sheffield and Tinsley Canal for a distance of 113 metres to a point 12metres south-east of Tinsley Park Road, O.S. map grid reference 438980E, 389280N.

SPANS:

The bridge comprises four spans, the first two spanning the Supertram and British Rail lines andthe third and fourth spanning the Sheffield and Tinsley Canal and the line of Tinsley Park Road,the spans being 18 metres, 30 metres, 30 metres and 18 metres respectively.

HEADWAY:

Not less than 3.5 metres to canal towpath and canal.

WATERWAY:

A minimum clear navigable waterway of 14 metres.

OVERALL DIMENSIONS:

The bridge will be 21.1 metres overall width, having dual carriageways of 7.245 metres each, twofootways of 2 metres each and a central reserve of 1.61 metres. Group P2 vehicle/pedestrianparapets with solid infill will be attached on each side to 0.5 metre wide parapet upstands.
