The Secretary of State for Social Security, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 16(3) of the Social Security (Incapacity for Work) Act 1994(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1.-(1) This Order may be cited as the Social Security (Incapacity for Work) Act 1994 (Commencement) Order 1994.
(2) In this Order, unless the context otherwise requires, references to sections and Schedules are references to sections of and Schedules to the Social Security (Incapacity for Work) Act 1994.
2.-(1) The day appointed for the coming into force of the sections specified in Part I of the Schedule to this Order is 18th November 1994.
(2) The day appointed for the coming into force of the sections specified in Part II of the Schedule to this Order-
(a)for the purpose only of authorising the making of regulations expressed to come into force on 13th April 1995, is 18th November 1994; and
(b)for all other purposes, is 13th April 1995.
(3) The day appointed for the coming into force of the section specified in Part III of the Schedule to this Order is 6th April 1995.
(4) The day appointed for the coming into force of the sections and Schedules specified in Part IV of the Schedule to this Order is 13th April 1995.

This Order brings into force the provisions of the Social Security (Incapacity for Work) Act 1994. The commencement dates are-
(a)18th November 1994 for the purposes of-
(i)enabling regulations to be made; and
(ii)up-�rating the rate of incapacity benefit and statutory sick pay;
(b)6th April 1995 for the purposes of the rate of statutory sick pay; and
(c)13th April 1995 for all remaining purposes.
