The Europe Agreement establishing an Association between the European Communities and their Member States, of the one part, and the Czech Republic of the other part, signed at Luxembourg on 4 October 1993(2).
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order declares the Europe Agreement establishing an Association between the European Communities and their Member States, of the one part, and the Czech Republic, of the other part, signed on 4 October 1993, to be a Community Treaty as defined in section 1(2) of the European Communities Act 1972. This Agreement establishes the Association with the aims of providing an appropriate framework for political dialogue, for promoting the expansion of trade and economic relations, providing a basis for the Community's financial and technical assistance to the Czech Republic, promoting cultural co-operation and providing an appropriate framework for the Czech Republic's gradual integration into the Community. The principal effect of declaring this Agreement to be a Community Treaty as so defined is to bring into play, in relation to it, the provisions of section 2 of the European Communities Act 1972 which provides for the implementation of treaties so specified.
1972 c. 68; section 1(2) was amended by the European Communities (Amendment) Act 1993 c. 32.
