The Safety of Sports Grounds (Designation) Order 1995

The Secretary of State in exercise of the powers conferred on her by sections 1(1) and 18(2) of the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975(1), after such consultation as is mentioned in section 18(4) of that Act, hereby makes the following Order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Safety of Sports Grounds (Designation) Order 1995 and shall come into force on 25th August 1995.

2. The sports ground at Cellnet Riverside Stadium, Middlesbrough, Cleveland (being a sports ground which, in the opinion of the Secretary of State, has accommodation for more than 10,000 spectators) is hereby designated as a sports ground requiring a safety certificate under the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975.

3. In the Schedule to the Safety of Sports Grounds (Rugby Football Grounds) (Designation) Order 1985(2), the entry in respect of The Pavilion on Arena 84, Huddersfield shall be omitted.

4. In Schedule 1 to the Safety of Sports Grounds (Designation) Order 1986(3), the entry in respect of The Stadium, Central Avenue, Billingham shall be omitted.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

Article 2 of this Order designates the Cellnet Riverside Stadium, Middlesbrough, Cleveland as a sports ground requiring a safety certificate under the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975.

Articles 3 and 4 of this Order vary the Orders referred to therein by omitting entries in respect of sports grounds which in the opinion of the Secretary of State no longer provide accommodation for more than 10,000 spectators.
