In exercise of the power conferred by section 192(3) of the Education Act 1993(1), the Secretary of State for Education and Employment, as respects England, and the Secretary of State for Wales, as respects Wales, hereby make the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Education (School Attendance Order) Regulations 1995 and shall come into force on 1st September 1995.
1. The School Attendance Order Regulations 1944(2) shall be revoked.
2. The form set out in the Schedule to these Regulations is prescribed as the form of a school attendance order which is to be served upon the parent of a child of compulsory school age by a local education authority under section 192(3) of the Education Act 1993.

Under section 192 of the Education Act 1993 a local education authority is required to serve a school attendance order, which is to be in the prescribed form, on the parent of a child who fails to satisfy the authority that the child is receiving suitable education and the authority is of the opinion that the child should attend school. These regulations prescribe the form of a school attendance order for the purposes of section 192.
They revoke the School Attendance Order Regulations 1944.
