The Secretary of State for the Environment as respects England, the Secretary of State for Wales as respects Wales, and the Secretary of State for Scotland as respects Scotland, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 9(4) of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989(1) and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Local Government (Assistants for Political Groups) (Remuneration) Order 1995 and shall come into force on 19th October 1995.
2. The amount specified for the purposes of section 9(3) of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 (assistants for political groups) is £25,044.
3. The Local Government (Assistants for Political Groups) (Remuneration) Order 1991(2) is hereby revoked.

One of the requirements relating to the terms on which a person is appointed to, or holds, an appointment in pursuance of section 9 of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 (assistants for political groups) is that the annual rate of remuneration for the post is less than £13,500 or such higher amount as the Secretary of State may specify by order.
This Order, which applies in England, Wales and Scotland, revokes the Local Government (Assistants for Political Groups) (Remuneration) Order 1991, by which the amount of £22,842 was specified, and specifies £25,044 as the relevant amount.
