The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 2 of the Probation Service Act 1993(1) and after the consultation required by that section, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Outer London Probation Areas (North East London) Order 1995 and shall come into force on 1st October 1995.
2. That part of Schedule 2 to the Outer London Probation Areas (No. 2) Order 1985(2) which relates to the North East London Probation Area shall be amended by substituting in column 3 "2" for "3" in the entries in respect of the petty sessions areas of Barking, Havering, Newham, Redbridge and Waltham Forest.
3. The three members of the North East London Probation Committee appointed before 1st October 1995 by the justices for the petty sessions area of Barking shall decide by agreement, or in default of agreement by lot, which two of them shall continue in office.
4. The three members of the North East London Probation Committee appointed before 1st October 1995 by the justices for the petty sessions area of Havering shall decide by agreement, or in default of agreement by lot, which two of them shall continue in office.
5. The three members of the North East London Probation Committee appointed before 1st October 1995 by the justices for the petty sessions area of Newham shall decide by agreement, or in default of agreement by lot, which two of them shall continue in office.
6. The three members of the North East London Probation Committee appointed before 1st October 1995 by the justices for the petty sessions area of Redbridge shall decide by agreement, or in default of agreement by lot, which two of them shall continue in office.
7. The three members of the North East London Probation Committee appointed before 1st October 1995 by the justices for the petty sessions area of Waltham Forest shall decide by agreement, or in default of agreement by lot, which two of them shall continue in office.

This Order amends the Outer London Probation Areas (No. 2) Order 1985 (S.I. 1985/2074) so as to reduce from fifteen to ten the number of justices appointed to the North East London Probation Committee. Each of the five areas which comprise the North East London Probation Area will appoint two rather than three justices.
