The Cardiff-Glan Conwy Trunk Road (A470) (Felinfach By-Pass) Order 1995

Coming into force

6th April 1995

The Secretary of State for Wales makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by Sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980(1) and of all other enabling powers:-

1. The new highway which the Secretary of State proposes to construct along the route described in Schedule 1 to this Order shall become a trunk road as from the date when this Order comes into force.

2. The centre line of the new trunk road is indicated by a heavy black line on the deposited plan.

3. The length of trunk road described in Schedule 2 to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a classified road as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the County Council of Powys that the new trunk road is open for through traffic.

4. In this Order:-

(i)"the deposited plan" means the plan numbered HA10/2 W089, marked "The Cardiff-Glan Conwy Trunk Road (A470) (Felinfach By-Pass) Order 1995", signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Wales and deposited at the Welsh Office Repository, Curran Embankment, Cardiff;

(ii)"the new trunk road" means the highway mentioned in article 1 of this Order;

(iii)"the trunk road" means the Cardiff-Glan Conwy Trunk Road (A470).

(iv)"classified road" as a classification for a highway means that highway is not a principal road for the purposes of enactments or instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads, but is a classified road for the purpose of every enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Sec retary of State and which does not specifically refer to their classification as principal roads.

5. This Order shall come into force on 6th April 1995 and may be cited as the Cardiff-Glan Conwy Trunk Road (A470) (Felinfach By-pass) Order 1995.

SCHEDULE 1ROUTE OF THE NEW TRUNK ROAD

A route about 1.40 kilometres (0.87 miles) in length, starting at a point on the Trunk Road at its junction with the Unclassified Road to Tylecrwn Uchaf at Pen-isa'r-waen then extending in a general north-easterly direction to a point on the Trunk Road about 376 metres north-east of the Griffin Inn.

SCHEDULE 2LENGTH OF TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD

The length of trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is that length of the Trunk Road about 0.36 kilometres (0.23 miles) in length starting at a point about 166 metres south-west of Felinfach Bridge then extending in a general north-easterly direction to a point about 115 metres north-east of the Griffin Inn.
